![]() CESEF Cost Effective, Social and Environmentally Friendly Building Materials and Construction Techniques "MinErgy Seminar" workshop, 14th - 15th November 2008 Concept Paper CESEF is a technology transfer project implemented by skat_consulting and funded by the Swiss Agency for Development Cooperation. CESEF (Cost Effective, Social and Environment Friendly, Building Materials and techniques) was initiated in Nepal from January 2005, which concentrates mainly on providing “Clean Building Technology” solutions for the country. The purpose of this project is to provide access to field-tested and affordable sustainable building material production systems for small and medium enterprises. The programme focuses on improvements of three core indicators, Economics, Environment and Social components through cost optimization, reduction of embodied energy and local job creation in this sector. The construction sector in Nepal is in general not much aware about the long term implications related to the prevailing construction practices. By continuing the construction business as usual the depletion of valuable raw-materials will continue, cost escalation of basic building materials will even further increase and the environment will suffer until it back-fires without mercy. The recent tremendous price increase of basic building material has introduced the search for cost effective building materials in Nepal. Architect, policy makers and more over the house owners are looking for cost effective building solutions. What are answers to this prevailing situation of increased construction cost? Is MinErgy or CESEF the solution? To discuss and create solution, CESEF is organizing TWO DAYS SEMINAR and invites professionals related to the construction sector to participate. The CESEF Programme has worked out several cost effective solutions, architects in India have started to design and constructed buildings in a sustainable way and are clearly showing the future direction of the construction industry. There is an opportunity to tap this "new" construction know-how during this seminar. This seminar will bring together key stake holders of the Nepal construction sector and assesses the potential and usefulness of applying CESEF or "Green House" in Nepal.
